This research titled as "Design of a paleontological route for the diversification of the tourist offer in San Martin Region, year 2018". It proposes as a general objective to design a paleontological route to contribute to the diversification of the tourist offer in the San Martín Region, 2018, in which a type of basic research is applied, since it had the purpose of filling a knowledge gap regarding fossils and its use in tourism, information on reality is also collected to enrich theoretical and scientific knowledge, as well as descriptive-purpose level and simple descriptive design, because it seeks to specify the properties, characteristics and profiles of phenomena; that is, it describes the variables under study and presents a proposal to diversify the tourist offer. The sample consisted of 65 tourists in the San Martin region. For the technique, observation and survey were used, whose instruments were the analysis guide and the questionnaire. The results were that 3 paleontological sites were identified; that is, fossils in the Shilcayo river, regional museum of the UNSM and Km 26 Tarapoto - Chazuta; considering that they are the closest paleontological resources to make a tourist route. In addition, 1 complementary place was identified, which is the Collpa restaurant. It was concluded that the design of a paleontology route contributes to the diversification of the tourist offer in the San Martín Region, 2018; the same as the alternative hypothesis of the study is accepted.
