The following thesis titled as "Economic valuation of the environmental service for carbon capture and sequestration in the aerial biomass of different agroforestry systems - in the San Martín region - Peru", had as objective: To estimate the total economic value of the environmental service by carbon sequestration in the biomass of different agroforestry systems (SAF). A non-experimental research design of a sectional type was used, 5 SAF was considered in the Upper Basin and 5 in the middle basin. The total carbon in the aerial biome was determined and economically valued to the SAF. The conclusions were: The average carbon estimated in the SAF of the middle basin and upper basin of the Cumbaza River was 21,551 t.ha-1 and 15,395 t.ha-1 respectively. The total economic value of the average SAF per hectare is S /. 220 995.0 (S$ 66 968.18). The environmental economic benefit for sequestration of C in the SAF is comparatively superior to non-agroforestry systems and the ecological tax on value added (VAT), was estimated at S /. 272,849.5 per year, being proposed as an economic instrument in the installation of 69.32 ha.año-1 of SAF in the Cumbaza River basin.
