The objective of this research study was to determine the relationship between risk factors and puncture wounds in workers’ health care at Juanjui II-E Hospital - Mariscal Caceres -San Martin. January to May 2018; the following was a quantitative approach, explanatory study type, correlational design, cases and controls. The population and sample consisted of 110 health workers who work in Juanjui Mariscal Caceres San Martin Hospital. The technique was a survey and the instrument a questionnaire. For the determination of the Occupational Risk Factors, the statistical calculation of the Relative Risk was applied with its confidence interval, identifying that, the labor time less than 1 year has 1,7452 times more the probability of presenting puncture wound than the workers with greater than 1 working year (RR = 1.7452, CI = 0.684-4.456). The non-use of gloves is 1370 times more likely to present a puncture wound (RR = 1.370, CI = 0.628 - 2.989). The day shift during working hours is 1,275 times more likely to present a puncture wound than the night shift (RR = 1.275, CI = 0.324 - 5.025). According to the activities carried out by health care personnel, the removal of the route is 4,235 times more likely to present a puncture wound (RR = 4.235, CI = 0.458 - 39.171), during the operative act there is a greater probability of presenting a puncture wound (RR = 2.078, CI = 1706 -2.533). 50% of the study population had puncture wounds and the other 50% did not present. The work time less than 1 year presents χ² of 1,374 with significance level of 0.42, the non-use of gloves presents χ² of 0.629 and degree of significance of 0.552, the day shift has χ² of 1.374 and degree of significance of 0.174, the removal one way presents χ² of 1,886 and significance of 0.663, during the operative act the χ² was of 4,151 and degree of significance of 0.118. In conclusion, the significant relationship (p <0.05) between occupational risk factors and puncture wounds in workers’ health care of Juanjui II-E Hospital - Mariscal Caceres - San Martin is evidenced.
