The benefits of physical activity on health are well documented in the adult population, this has been shown to have beneficial effects on people making them healthier. Every day there is more epidemiological evidence that physical inactivity is an important cause of mortality and disability in many countries. The lifestyles of health personnel condition it to physical inactivity, putting their well-being at risk. Objective: To determine the levels of physical activity in doctors and nurses of the Hospital II-2 Tarapoto in the period August 2017 - January 2018. Material and methods: A descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out with 152 people between doctors and nurses (as) between 25 and 64 years of age who work in the Tarapoto II-2 Hospital. A data sheet was used that included the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) short version and measurements of blood pressure, abdominal perimeter and waist-hip index were made. Data analysis was performed in the SPSS program, version 24, and the chi-squared test was used to determine the association between sedentary behavior, blood pressure, abdominal perimeter and waist-hip index with physical activity levels. Results: Physical activity levels in doctors and nurses of Hospital II-2 Tarapoto in the period August 2017- January 2018 were low in 63.82%. The sedentary behavior evaluated by sitting time per day averaged 306.38 minutes. There is an association between sedentary behavior (p = 0.000), systolic and diastolic blood pressure (p = 0.006 and p = 0.002), abdominal perimeter in both sexes (p = 0.000) and waist-hip index (males p = 0.016 and females p = 0.001). ) with the levels of physical activity. Conclusion: The levels of physical activity in doctors and nurses of Hospital II-2 Tarapoto are low in 63.82% and they spend 306.38 minutes sitting on average per day.
