Eleutherine bulbosa Miller Urb. is a herbaceous plant species that grows in the Peruvian jungle, in departments such as Loreto, San Martin and Ucayali. The main active principles and the possible predominant colorant it possesses were evaluated. The biometric measurements of the bulb in horizontal, vertical and weight were 2.65 ± 0.37 cm, 5.76 ± 0.056 cm and 14.34 ± 4.28 g, respectively. The color determination of the bulb and dry sample (dry and pulverized bulb) showed color codes #762D3F and #533635, respectively. Moisture and ash content analysis showed 48.02 ± 1.25 % on wet basis and 1.69 ± 0.06 on dry basis, respectively. The extraction method used was by maceration with an 80% ethanol solution for one week, with daily agitation for 15 min at 400 RPM. The extraction yield was 6.15 %, which means that 6.15 g of dry extract was obtained from each 100 g of sample. Active principles such as tannins, flavonoids, quinones, catechins and alkaloids were found in the performance of the phytochemical process. The content of total phenols was 216.849 ± 3.96 mg GAE/g extract and total flavonoids was 14.762 ± 0.8 mg quercetin/g extract. The antioxidant capacity for ABTS and DPPH were 4.445 ± 0.324 and 1.949 ± 0.033 𝜇mol TE/100 g DM respectively. In addition, a percentaje of inhibition for ABTS was found to be 13.9 ± 0.8 % and DPPH was 42.16 ± 0.57 %. Preparative thin layer chromatography with mobile phase Ethyl Acetate:Formic Acid:Glacial Acetic Acid:distilled water (1:0.11:0.11:0.11:0.26) was used, the separated metabolites were analyzed by UHPLC at wavelength from 280, 320 and 360 nm, obtaining better results at 280 nm.
