In recent times, Peru, through the Ministry of Transport and Communications, has implemented a policy to promote the construction of road works throughout the country. According to reports from the Ministry of Transport and Communications, more than 14,000 kilometres of roads have been built with asphalt pavements. It should be noted that the urban pavement of a city is one of the infrastructures most used by society to develop its economic, social, cultural, etc. activities, which is why the state of conservation of these is a true reflection of the level of development achieved by the people, so much so that when we visit a city or town centre and see that its road infrastructure is deteriorated, we immediately associate it with backwardness, chaos and in many cases misgovernment. It is well known that a road project has a large number of components, from the preliminary studies which, depending on the size of the road or local road, take a long time to prepare, from the geometric design to the laying of the wearing course, as well as environmental recovery and mitigation measures. These asphalt mixes can be hot mix, the most common, or cold mix. The manufacturing process for hot mix asphalt involves heating the binder and aggregates (except perhaps the mineral aggregate powder) and the asphalt is laid at a temperature well above ambient. Therefore, this project will analyse the preparation of asphalt mixes with additions in PET, analysing the feasibility, behaviour and reaction of PET with the sample material. The purpose of this study is to propose the use of a better alternative that will extend its useful life and save considerable sums of money that are used in its improvement and rehabilitation.
