The objective of this study was to compile bibliographic information on the implication of heavy metals in cocoa beans of the producers of Juanjuí, San Martín 2022. The methodology of the study was descriptive and exploratory, using reliable sources and bibliographic antecedents of the last few years, for which information on heavy metals in cocoa beans was collected. The effects of heavy metals and mitigation measures to reduce cadmium in cocoa beans were also analyzed. The conclusions reached were that the effects of the implications of heavy metals in cocoa beans in the studies carried out did not find the presence of metals such as lead or arsenic, but they did find the presence of cadmium at 0.39 ppm, which means that for the derivative it reaches 8 ppm, exceeding the permissible limits. In the clone analysis, the highest level was found in the hybrid with 0.067 ppm, and the lowest levels were found in ICS-95 and CCN-51. In soil, the presence of several heavy metals such as Fe, Cu, Zn, Mn, Cd, Ni, Pb was found, the results being considered non-toxic since they were within the permissible limits. Mitigation measures to reduce cadmium in cocoa allow installation in areas with less than 1.4 mg/kg of cadmium, perform characterization analysis, soil and grain cadmium, adequate fertilization with zinc, reduce the application of phosphorus products. In soils with low pH, apply amendments, preferably dolomite, organic matter is from 3% to 4% since this precipitate, sequester this metal, use low accumulation clones such as IMC-67, plant species that absorb and accumulate cadmium such as cocona, sacha culantro, incorporate microorganisms that decompose substances quickly and drain the mucilage. The district presents suitable meteorological data for cocoa cultivation; however, these climatic conditions are very important because cadmium is found in the soil and air, and in areas of heavy rainfall, leaching increases the displacement of cadmium in the soil, the pH of the soil and the acidity of the rain impact on how cadmium is absorbed. At high temperatures they affect how it processes metals, such as cadmium.
