Objective: To determine the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and abdominal perimeter (AP) with the volume of the prostate gland in patients treated for benign prostatic growth in hospital II-2 Tarapoto during the period from October to December 2021. Materials and Methods: This is an analytical correlational study, carried out among men over 40 years old, who were selected in a non-probabilistic way by convenience. The information was obtained by taking a medical history, taking anthropometric measurements and reviewing the clinical record of each patient. They were categorized according to BMI into normal, overweight and obese; according to AP into normal and central obesity and prostate gland volume into degrees. Statistical analysis was performed with the Windows Excel program and Pearson's correlation coefficient was used to determine the relationship. Results: A total of 80 patients were evaluated (mean age 69.29 years). The average BMI was 25.57kg/m2, where 55% (44) had a normal BMI and 44% (35) had some degree of overweight. Regarding abdominal perimeter (AP), 36.25% (29) had central obesity. The average prostate volume (PV) was 46.68g, with a distribution between 20.20g and 148g. No correlation was found between BMI and PV (r=0.0844), likewise for AP and PV (r=0.0997). Conclusion: There is no positive correlation between BMI, AP and PV in the study patients.
