In arder to determine the effect of the interaction: Sowing Density and NPK fertilization, to increase the grain yields and to make profitable i t s development in San Martín, was ins talled a trial with hard white corn variety NUTRIMAIZ in the Cumbacillo area located in the Morales District San Martín Region among 20 of february and 28 of June of 1,994. It i s located to 76º 21 ' of east length, 6º 29 ' of South latitude and an altitude of 330 meters above sea level. Experimental soil belongs to the Ultisol arder and presented, texture slightly suet to fine, rich, in potasium and low in phosphorus, high base saturation and pH of 7 .3. It was evaluated 3 populations of plants: 46,875, 62,500 and 7 5,000 plants/Ha with 2 levels of fertilization 90-80-60 and 45-40-30 Kg/Ha, and one witness without fertilization, employing the statistic desing of divided plots, with 9 treatments and 4 repetitions. ~ The heighest yields : was obtained whit 46,875 plants/Ha and distan c ing of 0.80 x 0.80 m with a level cf 90-80-60 Kg/ Ha there has of NPK, with an average of 4 . 99 ton/Ha. There was not statistics differences. It was concluded that the best treatment was' the population of 45,875 plants/Ha, that with the greatest economic benefit .
