This research work was developed with the purpose of studying, identifying and evaluating the activities generated in Coperholta sector urbanization process that affect the environment, as well as analyzing how the study of environmental urban impact influences, environmental sustainability of the population of the sector, which refers to the efficient and rational administration of natural resources, in such a way that it is possible to improve the welfare of the current population without compromising the quality of life of future generations. This study was based on the results obtained after having executed the respective exploration, and a series of interviews with residents of the area under study and supported by the Leopold matrix, for which the first step consisted in the identification of the existing interactions, for which all the activities that may have a place due to urbanization were considered, thus analyzing the magnitude and its importance in the environment. With the Leopold Matrix it was possible to identify significant environmental aspects to be prioritized during the formulation of the Environmental Management Plan. The most striking activities of the project, from the point of view of the negative impacts that they generate, are the stage of the land zone distribution and construction, and in the stage of the operation it is the public transport. The most negatively impacted environmental factors are in the soil, air and climate resources, as well as many environmental and, above all, social factors will be positively impacted by the project, such as the generation of employment in its various stages. Another important factor that will suffer a positive impact is health and education, since in the various stages of the project an important economic movement will be generated. Using the quantification of impacts offered by the Leopold methodology (the total sum of the averages of impacts is 5), it is concluded that the project must consider a responsible environmental management plan to reduce and eliminate these negative impacts, whose mitigation costs will be largely offset by savings in terms of the quality of life of the population, added to the fact that the Urbanization project is viable.
