The general objective of this research was to determine the concentration of carbon monoxide in interior spaces and its relationship with firewood consumption in the town of Calzada, having as specific objectives to determine the concentration of carbon monoxide inside the houses, to determine the amount of firewood consumed in interior spaces and as a third specific objective to determine the relationship between carbon monoxide and firewood consumption. In the methodological part, a sample of 39 houses distributed in 6 neighborhoods of the urban area was used. The measurement of the amount of firewood consumed in each household was done through direct and random counting. This count was carried out in the morning, midday and in the afternoon for one week in each house. Regarding the conclusions, it was determined that the average indoor carbon monoxide concentration in the locality of Calzada was 178.3 ppm, the average amount of firewood consumed per family and per person indoors was 4.84 kg and 1.063 of firewood respectively, and the correlation is low (0. 38) between indoor carbon monoxide concentrations and firewood consumption per person; moderate correlation (0.58) between carbon monoxide concentrations and the number of people per family; high correlation (0.61) between firewood consumption and the number of people per family. Likewise, it is estimated that for each additional family member, firewood consumption would increase by 0.05 kg.
