Objective. To know the clinical and epidemiological characteristics and pattern of resistance in patients with drug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis in patients over 15 years of age treated at the II-2 Tarapoto hospital in the period 2017-2019. Methodology. Observational, cross-sectional, descriptive, retrospective investigation in 61 cases of drug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis treated at Hospital II-2 in Tarapoto. Results. 73.8% male and 26.2% female patients with drug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis in those over 15 years of age treated at Hospital II-2 of Tarapoto, 54.1% were between 18 and 37 years old, 24.6% were between 38 to 57 years and 21.3% between 58 and 77 years of age. Drug resistant patients come from areas with a higher population density such as Tarapoto 32.8%. Patients with drug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis presented symptoms, mostly cough with 91.8%, followed by fever with 90.1%, 80.2% weight loss, 73.7% night sweats, and 57.4% hemoptysis. 13.1% were never treated and 86.9% were previously treated. 68.9% presented comorbidities, these being type 2 diabetes mellitus, HIV, and kidney failure among the most frequent with an unfavorable impact on recovery, and 31.1% did not present comorbidities. 18% of the patients had underweight as a nutritional status, 62.3% were normal weights and 19.7% were overweight. 52.5% had negative smears, 14.7% had 1 + by smear microscopy, 16.4% had 2 ++ and 16.4% had 3 +++. 26.2% had 1 + bacillary load per culture, 11.5% had 2 ++ and 62.3% had 3+. 16.4% are resistant only to isoniazid, 11.5% are resistant only to rifampicin, 6.5% are resistant only to ethambutol, 19.7% are resistant to both izoniazid and rifampin and 45.9% are resistant to different combinations of drugs. Conclusions: Most of the patients with drug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis have negative smears, while the majority have 3+ in the culture, they have a high probability of presenting low weight, 86.9% have already had a previous tuberculosis treatment, they are mostly of male sex, and in economically active ages, resistance is to the main drugs used first line for this disease and 68.9% present other comorbidities such as diabetes, HIV / AIDS and Renal Insufficiency, and they come mainly from Tarapoto.
