Microbiological and physicochemical quality of water for human consumption in the district of Pardo Miguel. Rioja, 2021 The general objective of this research was to determine the microbiological and physicochemical quality of water for human consumption in the district of Pardo Miguel in the province of Rioja, San Martin region. The hypothesis was developed based on the available literature, assuming that the physicochemical and microbiological quality of the water exceeds the maximum permitted limits and that, consequently, it is not suitable for human consumption. Three areas of the city were chosen for water sampling in the methodological section using statistical sampling methodology. Every fortnight, samples of one litre of water were randomly drawn from the households and sent to the laboratory for microbiological examination in compliance with D.S. 031 - 2010 S.A. regulations. With the laboratory report we proceeded to tabulate the data concluding that, in terms of microbiological parameters, on average total coliforms were 63.33 CFU/100ml, thermotolerant coliforms 13.33 CFU/100ml and heterotrophic bacteria 4169.33 CFU/100ml, exceeding in all three cases the MPL. The evaluation of the physicochemical parameters of the water for human consumption concluded that the average turbidity was 9.47 NTU and the colour 16 UCV, exceeding the LMP in both cases. The other parameters evaluated, such as conductivity, total dissolved solids, pH, chlorides, sulphates, iron and manganese are under control. Regarding the quality of the water for consumption, it is concluded that it is not of good quality; therefore, it is not suitable for direct consumption.
