The present research focused on the description of the impact generated by the ancestral knowledge of the Kechwa speakers in the Wayku neighborhood in the province of Lamas. Regarding the methodology, the study was descriptive and exploratory. Reliable bibliographic sources and backgrounds were used. The sociodemographic impact of ancestral knowledge was analyzed, and the economic impact of the Kechwa speakers from the Wayku neighborhood was examined, leading to the following conclusions: The sociodemographic impact generated by the ancestral knowledge of the Kechwa speakers from the Wayku neighborhood has positive effects involving the community, with the predominant age being 40 to 49 years at 50.55%, with males prevailing at 62.91%. 99% recognize their cultural identity, have knowledge in the use of medicinal plants reducing medical attention, participate in cultural promotion programs, the Kichwa language predominates, they promote tourism, and they grow 18 types of crops, with coffee, cocoa, and sacha inchi being the most prevalent, all through sustainable agriculture. The economic impact generated by ancestral knowledge is significant, indicating a better quality of life for indigenous families living in the area. With ancestral medicine, health expenses have decreased, allowing the promotion of traditional medicine in different markets; 92.31% are dedicated to agriculture. The adoption of technologies such as fertilization, the use of new varieties, and conservation practices make crops more profitable. This has generated new opportunities and economic income. Tourism has increased, providing more jobs for community residents.
