Information management in the preparation of research papers is relevant to meet bibliographic criteria required by university institutions; however, its procedure is usually performed manually, so the quality of research results is poor in terms of the review of the state of the art, citations and bibliographic references. In this sense, the objective of the study was to evaluate the influence of the use of Mendeley in the fulfillment of bibliographic criteria in the writing of research projects in UNSM-T undergraduate students. For this purpose, an applied study of quantitative approach and explanatory level, under a quasi-experimental design, was carried out. The sample population consisted of 60 research projects divided into two groups, 30 control and 30 experimental, which were evaluated through a validated checklist instrument. Likewise, the survey technique was applied with a questionnaire as an instrument to evaluate the promotion of the bibliographic manager in the students considered as the experimental group. Among the results, it stands out that the training workshop on the use of Mendeley was good with values of 97%, 87% and 83%, with respect to information management, knowledge transfer and perception of the workshop, respectively. Likewise, using the Mann Whitney U test, it was obtained that the asymptotic Sig. was equal to 0.000 less than the P-value 0.05, so it was concluded that there is a significant influence of the use of Mendeley in the fulfillment of bibliographic criteria in the writing of research projects.
