Design of riparian defense on the right bank of the Mishquiyacu River for flood protection in the town of Tres Unidos The village of Tres Unidos, located in the district of the same name in the Province of Picota, San Martin Region, has experienced recurrent flooding on the right bank of the Mishquiyacu River. These floods have affected both the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) and the urban area. To counteract these adverse effects, the construction of a riparian defense was proposed. The study involved the collection and analysis of existing data in four key areas: topography, hydrology, soil mechanics and river hydraulics. Specific techniques such as Curve Number N and Creager's Method were used to calculate various crucial parameters such as design flow, maximum flood flow, channel roughness, average channel slope, flow velocity and scour depth. In the cabinet stage, the hydraulic and structural dimensioning of the riverbank defense was carried out, which included the plan view, the longitudinal profile of the river, and the cross sections. The final design consists of a channeling wall with the following characteristics: Length of 2,250 meters, Variable height between 5 and 7 meters and Composition based on gabions filled with river stone. This wall has a double purpose: To prevent slope erosion and to avoid flooding in the urban area of Tres Unidos.
