The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between investment in road infrastructure and the average competitiveness index of the San Martin region, period 2015-2020. The research was conducted under a basic type of work, with a descriptive and correlational level, as well as a non-experimental cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of a total of 5 years (2015-2020). The instruments used for data collection were the documentary analysis guide. The results obtained were in accordance with each of the objectives set out. Regarding specific objective 1, for the purposes of analysis, only the MIPis of interest, since this is the final result of the budget increases at the end of the year, so that the average investment observed over 6 years is only S/31,125,255 soles, which represents only 0.0704% of the national MIP. In reference to specific objective 2, a summary of the processing of data obtained from 3 of the 6 indicators of the region's competitiveness index is shown, only the economic, educational and institutional environment were considered in the present work. In terms of specific objective 3, the Opening Institutional Budget (OIB) does not present a significant relationship with any of the elements analyzed, nor with the competitiveness index variable of the San Martin region. Specific objective 4 establishes that all the elements, except for the institutional environment indicator, are normally distributed, as they have a sig. value greater than 0.05. Thus, it is established that the correlation test to be used will be Spearman's Rho test. Consequently, it was possible to conclude the following: investment in road infrastructure is significantly related to the average competitiveness index of the San Martin region, period 2015-2020, due to the fact that the MIP indicator was taken as a reference to evaluate the investment as such, since it constitutes the final money available for this matter. The result was obtained by generating a p-value of 0.001 and a correlation coefficient of 0.976.
