Among the main problems faced by surface water bodies is contamination by organic load that leads to the minimization of aquatic biological diversity, likewise, aquaculture is one of the activities that through its effluent discharges can alter the quality of water. waters and negatively affect ecosystems. Given this, the research project was developed whose general objective was "Evaluate the influence of aquaculture activity on the environmental quality of water, through the determination of the total organic load". The research area was the Moyobamba district where a population and sample of 8 aquaculture production units were considered. The period of execution of the research project was 8 months. The research design was non-experimental and followed a simple correlational design. Samples of the effluents and the receiving body were taken after the mixing zone, taking into account the water monitoring protocol, likewise, the mixing zones were determined in each receiving body using a mathematical model presented by the National Water Authority. Water, on the other hand, in order to evaluate the influence of aquaculture activity, the results were related to the maximum permissible limits and quality standards for water. As results, it was found that the studied aquaculture farms concentrate organic pollutants, with the highest and lowest average concentrations for BOD5 between 16,23 and 6.41 mg/L, for COD between 84,69 and 44.23 mg/L and for TOC between 14,91 and 5,84 mg/L, which do not exceed the limits but do constitute a large contaminating contribution to the bodies of water, on the other hand, the Rumiyacu and Asnayacu streams presented the greatest and least lengths of zones of mixtures, which in all water bodies the determined concentrations exceed the quality standards for category 4 water, vegetable irrigation and animal drinking; likewise, with a confidence level of 99%, it was determined that the levels of total organic load parameters of the effluent influence the levels of total organic load of the receiving body. It is concluded that aquaculture activities influence the environmental quality of water, due to the contribution of organic load.
