The levels of waste contamination increased in the context of the pandemic, revealing a deficient government management and the lack of awareness of citizens to reduce them, this can be evidenced in the garbage in the streets, rivers, soil and environment in general. The present study was carried out in the city of Moyobamba between April and December 2022. The objective was to determine the degree of relationship between household solid waste management and environmental contamination, for which a study was carried out with a non-experimental design, with a descriptive correlational level. The population consisted of the inhabitants of the city of Moyobamba, from which a random sample of 382 inhabitants was taken, to whom two validated and reliable questionnaires were given to measure the variables of interest. The main result demonstrated using Spearman's correlation coefficient for household solid waste management and environmental pollution, with a value of -0.84 and a p-value of less than 0.05, leads to the conclusion that there is a statistically significant inverse relationship between the variables and that it reaches a high degree. Therefore, it is recommended that the authorities responsible for the environmental sector maintain optimal levels of household solid waste management through the provision of services according to their competencies.
