The quantity of parameters analyzed for water treatment is related to the quality of the water and its intended use; therefore, a series of procedures are implemented in order to obtain quality water, the most relevant and complex being for human consumption. Conventional treatments are carried out, where coagulation-flocculation is included in the primary stage, to carry out the sedimentation of colloidal matter. Within this chemical precipitation, protozoa such as Entamoeba histolytica and Giardia intestinalis can also be "chemically pulled"; the objective of this research was to apply coagulation for the reduction of Entamoeba histolytica and Giardia intestinalis protozoa, Rumiyacu stream, Moyobamba. According to the performed analysis, 10 organisms were recorded in one liter of water corresponding to Entamoeba histolytica and 10 organisms of Giardia intestinalis; after the treatment was performed, it was reduced to 1 organism per liter for each organism. It was determined that the optimum dose of 1% aluminum sulfate coagulant was 3 mL per 500 mL, at a speed of 150 rpm, generating a decrease in the values of organisms. It should be noted that all the tests carried out had the same effect on the number of microorganisms, generating acid pH.
