Incorporation of strips of compost for the optimal growth of ornamental plants in the Jirón veinte de abril, Moyobamba. Green areas in cities are of great importance and play an essential role in terms of the benefits they provide to the environment and the population; however, many problems are observed, such as the presence of solid waste, ornamental plants in poor condition, suboptimal soils, among others, such as in the case of the gardens of the city of Moyobamba, generating contamination and a bad appearance of the city. The general objective was "Incorporate compost into the soil in strips for the efficient growth of ornamental plants planted in the Jiron 20 de abril de Moyobamba". The project was carried out in the Jiron 20 de abril near the arrival of the Fernando Belaunde Terry highway (ex marginal of the jungle), district and province of Moyobamba. The population as well as the sample consisted of a garden area of 435.0 m2; the study was experimental with a complete block design with 3 replications and 4 compost treatments (T1 = 4.0 kg/ml, T2 = 8.0 kg/ml, T3 = 12.0 kg/ml and T3 = 16.0 kg/ml). The soil was cleaned and prepared, the trenches were opened and the experimental units were designed, then the compost was incorporated according to the doses of each treatment, to later plant the ornamental plants. During one month, cultural work was carried out and the variables of plant height (cm), green leaf weight (g), number of leaves, leaf area (cm2) and root length (cm) were measured. Finally, the soil and compost used in the study were sampled and analyzed. The direct observation technique was used with a data collection form as an instrument; in addition, descriptive and inferential statistics (ANOVA and Duncan with 95% confidence) were used to process and analyze the data. The results obtained in the evaluations of the study variables were superior in T4 compared to the other treatments used; in other words, the higher the dose used, the better the growth of the ornamental plants. The soil analysis shows 0.089 % N, 30 ppm of P, 299.58 ppm of K and pH 8.33; Ca 8.60, Mg with 1.29 and Na with 0.64 meq/100 gr of soil. It is concluded with 95% confidence that the incorporation of compost in strips favors the optimum growth of ornamental plants in the J. 20 de abril of the city of Moyobamba.
