The present thesis work called Study of soil mechanics with the purpose of determining the pavement to be used in the perimeter of the main square of the district Nuevo Cuzo Alto Biavo, province of Bellavista, San Martin region, was developed in the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the National University of San Martin, with the purpose of obtaining the degree of Civil Engineer. The purpose of this thesis is to carry out a soil mechanics study of the perimeter of the main square of the Alto Biavo district - province of Bellavista - San Martin region, in order to design the pavement based on the results of this study. Preliminary studies were carried out in the field, such as a traffic study, open-air excavations, from which soil parameters were extracted from the area under study, through the development of tests carried out in the soil laboratory of the National University of San Martin. Later, in the office, design calculations were made following the parameters of the National Construction Regulations, determining the mechanical characteristics of the soil and subsequently the type and design of pavement that would guarantee easy and optimum trafficability for light and heavy vehicles. In conclusion, it is recommended to use a rigid pavement, with a 15cm concrete slab structure and 20cm of subbase, as it is safer and more conservative.
