The general objective of this research was to obtain a herbicide made from cocoa mucilage (Theobroma cacao L.) for application on weeds of Desmodium sp and Cyperus rotundus L. in a cocoa-growing area of the Province of San Martin, having as one of the main objectives the evaluation of the dose of cocoa mucilage (Theobroma cacao L.) that has the best lethal effect on the weeds of Desmodium sp and Cyperus rotundus L. The type of research is applied, with 8 weed species as population, having as sample 1 broadleaf species (Desmodium sp) and 1 narrowleaf species (Cyperus rotundus L). Data were taken after the first application, 7 days after germination of the weeds, then the second application was made seven days after the first, the weeds already showed wilting effects, and finally another 7 days more, which was with the natural bioherbicide through spraying the weeds, proceeding to measure the height, number of flowers and leaves of the weeds under study. It is concluded that the residue of cocoa mucilage fermented for 30 days can be used as biocontrol of weeds, this was demonstrated in the application on the weeds used in this project obtaining significant effects on broadleaf and narrowleaf weeds; the development of this project proposed an appropriate methodology to reduce environmental pollution by the use of agrochemicals in cocoa crops.
