Introduction. The progress of technology in masonry products has been fundamental to satisfy the growing demand in the construction sector, essential to improve the performance, efficiency and durability of structures, and thus meet the current standards and demands. Objective. The mechanical properties of masonry walls adhered with Massa DunDun and traditional mortar in the constructions of the district of Tarapoto were determined. Location. The present research work was carried out at the professional school of civil engineering of the National University of San Martin, with construction materials representative of the district of Tarapoto. Procedures. The physical-mechanical properties of the materials used in the elaboration of masonry walls were identified, the compressive strength of masonry piles adhered with Massa DunDun and traditional mortar as well as the cost of elaboration of the walls were compared. The specimens were made considering only one type of brick (King Kong brick type IV). The piles and walls made with Massa DunDun polymeric mortar were made according to the manufacturer's recommendations, while the piles and walls were made with traditional mortar according to Standard E.070 (2020). Results. The compressive strength between the masonry piles bonded with Massa DunDun and traditional mortar showed significant differences of 50.55 % (32.27 kg/cm2 and 65.13 kg/cm2, respectively). Results. The compressive strength between the masonry piles adhered with Massa DunDun and traditional mortar showed significant differences of 50.55% (32.27 kg/cm2 and 65.13 kg/cm2, respectively). The cost of the elaboration of the masonry walls adhered with Massa DunDun shows a saving of 08.45% per m2 with respect to traditional mortar (S/107.40 and S/ 117.31, respectively). Conclusions. The piles made with traditional mortar comply with the minimum requirements of Standard E.070 as a structural element; on the other hand, the piles made with Massa DunDun polymeric mortar do not reach the minimum strengths, therefore, it is only suitable for non-load-bearing walls due to its low compressive strength. In terms of unit costs, masonry walls adhered with Massa DunDun are more economical compared to masonry walls adhered with traditional mortar because it reduces the waste of materials and improves the construction time of masonry walls.
