Sociocultural factors and their relationship with handwashing adherence in the Victoria Baja housing association in times of COVID-19 Given the events of the recent COVID - 19 pandemic and the ravages it brought with it, one of the main tools to reduce contagion and in turn the mortality rate was hand washing, however, sociocultural factors exist that hinder or favor the correct adherence to this procedure. The research site was the Victoria Baja housing association, located in the province of Banda del Shilcayo in the San Martin region, to determine the relationship between sociocultural factors and handwashing adherence in times of COVID-19. Regarding the design, the research was based on a non-experimental, cross-sectional, descriptive and correlational study, in order to establish the association between them. A questionnaire and a checklist were used as an instrument, which consisted of a set of questions aimed at measuring specific variables, using a closed-ended question format. The results showed that most of the participants had an average age between 19 and 29 years (48.6%), predominantly female (79.2%), showing that most participants only received education up to secondary level (48.6%); the average monthly income is greater than S/1,500.00 soles (45.83%); a value of 51.4% was observed with respect to adequate adherence. It was concluded that there is a significant relationship between sociocultural factors and handwashing adherence of the inhabitants of the Victoria Baja housing association in times of COVID-19, since the significance is less than 0.05 and the correlation coefficient indicates a positive degree of correlation (Rho = 379).
