Among the human activities related to water use and consumption, environmental management is important as a constant process that aims to manage the resources related to the goals of the National Environmental Policy. The objective of this research was to determine the physical, chemical and biological contamination status of water for human consumption, with the purpose of generating sustainable development. According to the results, the water quality of the Yantalo district is biologically affected, since fecal coliforms were found in all the monitoring points of the water networks. Turbidity has varied from the catchment source to the households, the amount of pH and total solids, such as BOD and COD, were found with values within the regulations, the value of fecal coliforms exceeded 3.5 CFU at all points. In addition, the environmental management program indicates that it is necessary to present a type of conventional water treatment to make it suitable for human consumption, for the reduction of pathogenic agents present in the water.
