Stress is a mental state characterized by worry or tension that manifests itself in difficult situations, including those in the university context; this natural response varies in intensity depending on how it is handled. In this context, the research aimed to measure the influence of a web chatbot based on natural language processing on stress management in university students. An applied research with a quantitative approach, descriptive-explanatory level and quasi-experimental design was carried out. The population consisted of 529 teachers and 6,241 students, with a sample of 200 teachers and 237 students. In addition, 32 students were selected to form the control and experimental groups. The technique employed was the survey and the instrument used was a questionnaire validated by expert judgment. A descriptive and inferential statistical analysis was performed with the support of SPSS v.26 software. Among the outstanding results, it was found that 65% of UNSM teachers are unaware of the symptoms of stress in students, 35% do not apply methods to identify stressors and 51% do not know strategies to cope with them. On the other hand, 59% of UNSM students have ever used a chatbot; of these, 41% used it for educational or learning purposes, while 78% have never used a chatbot for mental health care. The findings also describe the development of the web chatbot using the Python programming language and a MySQL database, with connections established between the GPT-3.5-Turbo model. In the process of implementing the web chatbot, when comparing the control group with the experimental group, a reduction in stress was observed in 19% of the university students. However, the Mann-Whitney U hypothesis test showed an asymptotic significance value (bilateral) of 0.073. Since this value is greater than 0.05, the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected, concluding that there is not enough statistical evidence to affirm that the use of the web chatbot has a significant influence on stress management among university students.
