2020 a 2023.
desarrollar síndrome del manguito rotador (OR: 2.28, IC 95%: 1.27-4.10, p < 0.001).
rotador
To determine whether essential hypertension is a risk factor for rotator cuff syndrome at Hospital I La Esperanza, during the period from 2020 to 2023. Materials and methods: A case-control study including 190 patients treated at the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation service of Hospital I La Esperanza, from January 2020 to December 2023. Results: Hypertension was associated with a 2.28-fold higher risk of developing rotator cuff syndrome (OR: 2.28, 95% CI: 1.27-4.10, p < 0.001). The median age of patients with the syndrome was 65 years (IQR: 62-72), compared to 51 years (IQR: 41-55) in those without the syndrome. Additionally, 73.7% of patients with rotator cuff syndrome had diabetes, compared to 49.5% of those without it. Conclusions: Essential hypertension is a risk factor for rotator cuff syndrome. However, age and diabetes mellitus are the only intervening variables associated with the syndrome.
