The present investigation aimed to determine the prevalence of hyperglycemia and dyslipidemias in patients treated in a private laboratory in the district of El Porvenir - Trujillo in the period from August 2021 to August 2022. Samples of 3.5 ml of blood were extracted from the forearm veins of 182 fasting patients to measure basal glucose, cholesterol, TAG, LDL, HDL. Colorimetric methods and measured by spectrophotometry were used. Patients were diagnosed as hyperglycemic if the glucose level was equal to or higher than 120 mg/dl. Hyperlipidemia was defined as cholesterol equal to or greater than 200 mg/dl, and dyslipidemias when TAG equal to or greater than 200 mg/dl, LDL equal to or greater than 130 mg/dl, and HDL less than 40 mg/dl in men and less than 50 mg/dl in women. The point prevalence was calculated, defined as the number of patients with the clinical condition of hyperglycemia or dyslipidemia among the number of patients evaluated. The final data were presented in tables and figures of frequency distribution according to descriptive statistics. It was concluded that the prevalence of hyperglycemia in men was higher than in women with 35%, and the age group with the highest percentage was the elderly with 33%. On the other hand, the dyslipidemia with the highest prevalence in sex was hypercholesterolemia with 16% in women and 18% in men. For the age groups, the dyslipidemia with the highest proportion was hypercholesterolemia with 28% in older adults and the lowest prevalence was hypoalphapoproteinemia with 6% respectively.
