ABSTRACT The present work was carried out in the months of October 2017 and February 2018, with the objective of determining the effect of the ethological control of Metamasius hemipterus L. on Gros Michel banana in the town center Molinos de Cajanleque district of Ascope, province Ascope region of Freedom. In order to determine the effect of the different ethological traps on the control of Metamasius hemipterus L., it was coordinated with the representatives of the board of directors of the Plátano del Molino Producers Association (APPLAM) and proceeded to the installation of this trial, locating the field with higher rate of infestation of this pest to later establish the different treatments: T1 (slices of pseudostem), T2 (slices of pseudostem + molasses), T3 (Pintado of the base of the pseudostem with more insecticide paste) (Chemical Witness); for the treatments T1 and T2, two slices of banana pseudostem with a diameter of approximately 15 cm and a height of 5 cm were cut with a machete, placed on top of each other in the form of a "sandwich" with the difference of T1 no additional product was applied but to T2 if molasses was applied in both slices cut, however T3 was mixed hydrated lime (2 Kg.) + Lorsban * 4E (50 cm3) which is a broad spectrum organophosphorus insecticide and recommended for pest control in various crops, plus ultra pegasol (150 cm3) which is an agricultural adjuvant and sodium hypochlorite (50 cm3) was added; all this mixture was diluted in 20 liters of water and with a brush the plants were painted from the base of the pseudostem to approximately 40 cm. Tall. In obtaining the data, the number of dead insects in the different types of traps was evaluated twice a week, resulting in the fact that T1 (pseudotallo slices) has a significant effect on the control of Metamasius.
