The objective of the present study was to determine the impact of infection by a Gumboro variant virus on the performance of broilers of the Cobb Vantres 500 line during a campaign. The study was carried out in two farms with a total of 188,420 chickens. After 32 days, the molecular characterization was determined using the reverse transcriptasepolymerase chain reaction test (RT-PCR), sequencing, and genotyping, bursal index and histopathology of the bursa. At 10, 18 and 39 days of age, the serological profile was determined using the indirect ELISA technique and at 39 days the zootechnical parameters were determined. The RT-PCR test detected the Gumboro virus in two environments of Campus B. Sequencing confirmed Delaware A variant virus. In both farms, the bursal index and histopathology showed a similar degree of lesions, as well as high serological responses, even at 39 days of age, the geometric averages of securities were greater than 10,000. The impact of the viral presence in plant B, positive to PCR, reflected in low weight in shed 2 and high mortality, which reached 8,9%, in shed 3 is demonstrated; while in campus A an impact on the productive parameters was also observed, suggesting that it was due to a depression of the immune system, because the virus was present in the first weeks, while in farm B the virus was detected at 32 days, stage where there are no severe immunosuppressive effects.
