Water is a renewable natural resource that satisfies the demand for population and productive activities, as well as the maintenance of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems and that is why the quality of water in natural systems and in particular in inland waters influences in the health of the aquatic ecosystems as well as in the different possible uses of the water resource. Through the route of the microbasin from the Igor community there are humans destined to small scale livestock and agriculture; so also the activity of mineral extraction. The study is carried out within the micro basin of the Huaranchal river that runs from the Igor community (point 1) through the Huaranchal bridge (point 2), to the thermal baths (point 3) around 07 km of section, with an altitudinal range of 1,933 - 3,041 m.s.n.m. In the present study the physical, chemical and biological characteristics of the waters of the Huaranchal river that are being influenced by the mining activities and among others of the zone were evaluated; for which it has been necessary to carry out an important field, cabinet and laboratory work. For this, eleven samplings were carried out, in three stations along the river, during the month of October 2016 until August of 2017; where, it was determined that the physical - chemical and biological parameters of the water quality are adjusted to the maximum permissible values established in the National Environmental Quality Standards (ECA) for waters, MINAM (2017), so, the water resource of the Huaranchal river micro-basin could be used for the production of drinking water.
