Since the genesis of humanity, man took advantage of the flora resource and more specifically medicinal plants, for the cure and / or relief of their diseases and / or ailments; used very wisely since time immemorial and that to this day have been improving the quality of life of those who consume it. For this reason, this research aimed to determine the effectiveness of the use of medicinal plants and their influence on the quality of life from the perception of the inhabitants of the province of Trujillo, during the years 2018 to 2020. 96 semi-structured interviews were applied, using the "snowball" technique. 102 species of medicinal flora were inventoried, distributed in 95 genera and 46 families; where the Asteraceae, Lamiaceae, Fabaceae and Myrtaceae were the most representative. In the same way, the population attributes vital importance, according to its (IVU), to 24 species. The residents report suffering from 62 diseases, grouped into 12 Categories, where the treatment of diseases related to the Systems predominate: digestive and gastrointestinal (FCI = 0.69); reproductive (FCI = 0.67), respiratory (FCI = 0.67), cardiovascular (FCI = 0.66), urinary (FCI = 0.66), nervous (FCI = 0.66), Musculoskeletal (FCI = 0.65) and those framed within the category chronic degenerative diseases (FCI = 0.65), as well as general symptoms or ailments (FCI = 0.50). It is concluded that the use of medicinal plants in the province of Trujillo, presented an effectiveness of 100%; given that 63.5% of the diseases referred to by the population were “cured” and it generated relief from the remaining 36.5% diseases; in the same way, the inhabitant attributes to having improved their quality of life by 79.16%.
