Objective: To determine the frequency of Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli, which carry the Ndm, Kpc and/or Oxa-48 enzymes, provided by the National Institute of Neoplastic Diseases - Peru between the years 2019 - 2021. Materials and Methods: Basic Study, descriptive, 104 bacterial cultures provided by the National Institute of Neoplastic Diseases were received; which were isolated from different clinical samples. Cultures were identified using the MALDI-TOF MS technique (matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry), then confirmatory tests were performed by lateral flow immunochromatography assay for immunological capture of epitopes of the different carbapenemases: oxacillinase (OXA)-48-like, Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase (KPC), New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase (NDM).Results: Results: from 104 bacterial cultures analyzed, New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase (NDM) carbapenemase was found with a frequency of 75% (n=78) of the total enzymes identified by lateral flow tests; Likewise, this enzyme is carried more frequently by K. pneumoniae with 60.57% (n=63). In 2019, K. pneumoniae was found to carry the NDM enzyme with a frequency of 85.7% (n=30) and for the KPC enzyme with 11.4% (n=4) as well as a single isolate of E. coli, carrier of the enzyme Oxacillinase-48-like (OXA-48). During 2020, the first report of K. pneumoniae with double carbapenemase (KPC/NDM) was found, as well as a frequency of the enzyme K. pneumoniae carbapenemase (KPC) of 48% (n=12) and for NDM 16% (n=4) in this bacterium, for E. coli a frequency of 24% (n=6) was reported for NDM and 8% (n=2) for KPC. In 2021, klebsiella pneumoniae isolates carrying the New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase (NDM) enzyme predominate again with a frequency of 61.7% (n=30); for the enzymes KPC, OXA-48 and KPC/NDM the same frequency was found (4.3%), in Escherichia coli 19.1% (n=9) were reported for NDM and 6.4% (n=3) for OXA. -48. Conclusions: In the National Institute of Neoplastic Diseases of Peru, it was found during the year 2019, that the bacterial cultures of K. pneumoniae that carry the enzyme of class B type NDM, are found more frequently (85.7%) with respect to E. coli bacterial cultures; The first isolation of E. coli that carry OXA-48 is also reported, in 2020 the presence of the first bacterial cultures of K. pneumoniae that carry double carbapenemases type KPC/NDM (4%) is detected, while in the year 2021 a slight increase in bacterial cultures of K. pneumoniae and E. coli carrying OXA-48 and KPC/NDM double carbapenemases is observed. Bacterial cultures of K. pneumoniae are found mostly as carriers of carbapenemases.
