ABSTRACT The objective of this report on pre-professional practices was to determine the characteristics of the consumption of ceftriaxone 1g in patients hospitalized in gynecology-obstetrics of a hospital II-1 in Trujillo during the period July 2021 - April 2022. To determine the consumption profile of ceftriaxone, the Defined Daily Dose (DDD) was used as the technical unit of measurement. The data was obtained from the medical prescriptions of patients hospitalized in the obstetrics-gynecology service. The total number of consumed units of ceftriaxone in the study period was 226; being the month of August the one that presented the highest units consumed with 41 which represents 18%, there were two months with less units consumed, they were September and October with 10 each one representing 4%. The average monthly consumption of ceftriaxone 1 g expressed in DDD/100 bed-days was 12.57; the month of December had the highest consumption with 17.74 DDD/100 bed-days and the lowest was the month of October with 5.04 DDD/100 bed-days. The total cost of ceftriaxone 1g during the period July 2021- April 2022 was S/. 183.06 nuevo soles. Finally, the trend of ceftriaxone 1g consumption was evaluated, finding a slight increase over time.
