Currently, mining companies focus on optimizing their profitability by developing projects that reduce costs, improve safety and maintain production without negatively affecting processes. At the CIA. Minera Lincuna, which develops underground exploitation processes in the Coturcan area, has implemented a project with the objective of improving the ventilation system and reducing costs through the construction of an Alimak chimney. This project responds to existing deficiencies, particularly at level 10, where the air flow is insufficient. Furthermore, it has been considered that the fans installed in the Coturcan area generate high maintenance costs and electricity consumption. Finally, the construction of the Alimak AK-02 chimney significantly improved the ventilation system, reaching a coverage of 88% to 115%. This allowed an increase in the percentage of oxygen and a reduction in temperature in the work at level 10 in the Coturcan zone. The total cost of construction of the Alimak AK-02 chimney was $552,326.32, with a completion time of 7 months. In addition, monthly ventilation costs were reduced from $53,210.41 a $36,195.01, which represents a saving of $17,015.40 per month, equivalent to 32%. The risk of accidents due to gassing inside the mine was also reduced.
