The present study evaluated the bacteriological quality of Scomber japonicus peruanus "mackerel" commercialized in the Sechura - Piura municipal fish market, during the months of February to December of the year 2018. For the analysis, standardized microbiological methods of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) such as Escherichia coli (NMP) .ISO 1664 9-3: 2015, Detection of Salmonella spp.ISO 6579-1: 2017, Enumeration of Mesophilic Areobias at 30 oC.ISO 4833-1: 2013, Enumeration of S. aureus coagulase positive. ISO 6888-1: 1999 / Amd 1: 2003, Vibrio cholerae and Vibrio parahaemolyticus.ISO 21872-1:2017. Of the total 80 samples analyzed comply with current regulations for hygiene indicators: E. coli (36%), Mesophilic Aerobic (100%) and S. aureus (100%), 64% do not comply with the limits established for E. coli. The presence of pathogens such as: Salmonella spp, V. cholerae and V. parahaemolyticus was not detected in 100% of the samples analyzed. Having detected E. coli in S. japonicus from the Bayovar cove, it is concluded that 64 % of the samples are of poor bacteriological quality, constituting samples unfit for human consumption.
