ABSTRACT Parenteral feeding of premature infants continues to be a challenge in clinical practice, seeking to provide adequate nutritional support during their first week of life for better growth and development. In this research work, compliance with the caloric goal and the contribution of macrominerals was determined in premature infants who received parenteral nutrition in a hospital. For which a retrospective study was carried out on the information recorded in the total parenteral nutrition formulation sheets of 47 premature patients admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit from July 1 to December 31, 2022. It was applied a frequency analysis based on percentage, average and standard deviation and the chi2 test was performed, comparative analysis considering statistical significance at p<0.02. Results: Regarding macrominerals, it was found that 8.5% and 66% of premature babies received less than the recommended intake for potassium and calcium, respectively. On the contrary, 100% of premature babies received the recommended intake of magnesium and 66% received a higher intake of magnesium. sodium. 36.2% of premature infants received caloric intake in kcal less than the recommended amount of carbohydrates and 66% received more than the recommended amount of lipids. It is inferred based on the statistical significance that the improvement in kilocalorie levels is significantly relevant to the improvement that premature babies may present. There is no adequate adherence or adherence to the recommendations of the specialized parenteral nutrition guides in the formulation sheets analyzed considering the compliance value equal to or greater than 80% raised in this study. It is necessary to conduct more research on this population that further studies this vital topic to improve the quality of life of this population.
