Objective: To determine the effectiveness and quality of life of the medicinal flora in the Andean community of Huamachuco, Sánchez Carrión, La Libertad, Peru. Methodology: Descriptive study, in which 96 semi-structured surveys were applied, with a type of random sampling and with two criteria (inclusion and exclusion), with the data obtained, the "healthrelated quality of life" was analyzed. "use value index" (IVU) of each species, "informant consensus factor index" (FCI) and ethical considerations raised in this study. Result: The Andean community of Huamachuco, obtained a total of 51 species of medicinal flora, which were distributed in 34 families and 49 genera; where the Lamiaceae, Asteraceae and Apiaceae families were the most representative. Likewise, the inhabitants of Huamachuco attribute greater importance, according to the (IVU > 0.50), to 20 species of medicinal flora. Regarding the ailments suffered by the inhabitants of Huamachuco, 60 diseases were indicated, which were grouped into 10 categories; found a predominance of diseases of the gastric and gastrointestinal system (FCI: 078); diseases of the respiratory system (FCI: 0.75); urinary system diseases (FCI: 0.63) and cardiovascular system diseases (FCI: 0.63), most of which use medicinal flora for their treatment. Conclusion: It was found that the Andean Community of Huamachuco obtained an effective use of medicinal flora of 100%, observing that 69% were relieved and 31% cured. Also, an improvement in the quality of life of the Andean Community of Huamachuco can be evidenced using medicinal flora, where its percentage dimension is 84.96%.
