Difficult airway (DA) is a clinical situation that puts a patient's life at risk and exposes the operator to the risk of contagion, especially during epidemics of respiratory infections. Difficult laryngoscopy (DL) and failure of intubation on first attempt (FIPI) prolong the operator's exposure time to the airway, so it is essential to know their predictors in order to reduce this risk. METHODS Observational, cross-sectional, prospective study. Data from the clinical history of 130 COVID-19(-) patients intubated for general anaesthesia during the Sars-CoV-2 pandemic. Binary logistic regression was performed as well as sensitivity, specificity, PPV and NPV for those with p<0.05 by Chi-square. RESULTS We found LD 9.2% and FIPI 5.4%. In binary stepwise logistic regression: MMT is a predictor of FIPI; MMT and DII are predictors of LD. In FIPI, the highest sensitivity (100%) was AC and specificity (82%) was MMT; in LD, the highest sensitivity (91%) was MMT and specificity (96%) was NC. CONCLUSIONS The most reliable predictor of ADV for predicting LD and FIPI is MMT in non-covid patients during the Sars-CoV-2 pandemic.
