ABSTRACT The objective of this work was to characterize the crystalline forms of pyrazinamide 500 mg in tablets by means of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC); working in a temperature range of 20 to 300°C, with a heating ramp of 10°C/min and a nitrogen flow of 50 mL/min, using a secondary standard of pyrazinamide and 500 mg tablets of this drug from 2 laboratories multisources identified as M1 and M2. In the results obtained in the thermograms, the curves of the standard and the reference drug are observed; show at 152 °C an endotherm that represents the loss of absorbed moisture and at 190 °C a characteristic endotherm of the active ingredient is evidenced; Following the endothermic event, a glass transition is evidenced, which represents the conformational change and degradation of the active ingredient. The crystalline forms of pyrazinamide 500 mg in tablets were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry, determining that both multisource drug 1 and multisource drug 2 have an alpha crystalline form, which are metastable.
