This study analyzes the impact of monetary policies on the solvency of the Peruvian financial system during the period 2004–2022, differentiating the effects based on the type of financial entity. A Structural VAR (SVAR) model was employed using data from the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP) and the Superintendency of Banks, Insurance, and Pension Funds (SBS). Monetary policy decisions, particularly the reference interest rate, significantly affect the solvency of the Peruvian financial system in a differentiated manner, with rural and municipal savings banks being the most vulnerable and multiple banks showing the highest resilience. The findings highlight the crucial role of liquidity and the interest rate in financial stability during the 2004–2022 period. These conclusions underscore the need for differentiated policies to strengthen financial stability, particularly for smaller entities exposed to external risks.
