ABSTRACT Due to the rapid growth of the automotive fleet and the scarce improvement of the physical conditions of the cities, traffic congestion has become one of the main urban problems, that is why today road and urban planning is of utmost importance. The main objective of this research thesis was to study the traffic conditions of the road corridor composed of the national 3S highway from the ANGOSTURA – OROPESA section, in the department of Cusco. Being the main axis of entry to the city from the south Sicuani, Arequipa, Puerto Maldonado. With the data obtained in the field, the road capacity and service level were calculated based on the Highway Capacity Manual 2016, which is incorporated into the deterministic simulation software; this software allowed us to perform the simulation of these intersections in their current state. We proceeded to the analysis of the road system in two scenarios, in its current situation; and in the projected future; giving as a solution to a new infrastructure that includes a 04- lane road infrastructure, the comparative analysis of both alternatives was carried out. She proposes the corresponding improvements, results in which the improvement in the level of service of the analyzed intersections can be seen.
