Iquitos, characterized by the lack of coarse aggregate and the presence of finegrained sand, with little presence of medium-sized sand. The main construction material is cement-sand concrete, an element with different characteristics from a conventional concrete prepared in the rest of the country, which is heterogeneous and discontinuous, therefore, exposed to the entry of aggressive agents that cause its physical and chemical deterioration, affecting its durability. Permeability is the property of concrete that facilitates the entry of these agents, being closely related to its rate of deterioration. According to Kumar Mehta, permeability depends on its water/cement ratio, maximum aggregate size, cure time, and type of cement. The general problem: what is the level of permeability in the cement-sand concrete of the city of Iquitos-2019? The objective is: to determine the permeability to water in the cement-sand concrete of the city of Iquitos. Test were carried out using the European standard EN 12390-8. As additional information, the permeability test was performed according to the Colombian standard NTC 4483, and the density, absorption and voids test in hardened concrete according to the ASTM C642 standard. For the permeability test, 33 cement-sand concrete specimens were elaborated, for different water/cement ratios as follows: 6 specimens for each water/cement ratio mixture of 0.55, 0.60. 0.70 and 0.75, and 3 specimens for each water/cement ratio mixture of 0.60, 0.70 and 0.75. These specimens were tested according to EN 12390-8 and NTC 4483 respectively. In the results, it was obtained that in mixtures with water/cement ratio of 0.55 and 0.66 a medium permeability is obtained, and in the ratios of 0.70 and 0.75 the permeability is high. The permeability in cement-sand concrete is higher than a conventional concrete, and the relationship between permeability and the water/cement ratio is direct.
