The present research was developed in the city of Requena, Requena province, Loreto department in 2020, whose main objective was to determine the degree of contamination of the Camana gully and its effects on the health of the population. The type of research is descriptive and correlational with a nonexperimental design. The investigation was carried in two stages, in the first stage in which it was sought to determine the degree of contamination of the Camana gully, the population was made up of the waters of the Camana gully and the sample consisted of 1200 ml of water, in the second stage in which it was sought to identify common diseases in the population and evaluate the incidence of diseases through surveys, the population was made up of 30,156 inhabitants and the sample was made up of 100 inhabitants; obtaining the following results: that the parameters of pH, total suspended solids and thermotolerant coliforms do not comply with the environmental quality standards for water, category 4: conservation of the aquatic environment. In addition, it was determined that there was not a high rate of people who had diseases due to the direct consumption or use of the waters of the Camana gully, and of the percentage of inhabitants who had diseases, it was identified that the diseases that occur with highest percentage are the digestive, followed by dermal and finally dengue, also with respect to the incidence of these they present with a higher percentage in the rising period and in a lower percentage in the emptying period. For this reason, it is concluded that the Camana gully has high microbiological contamination and that the relationship between the degree of contamination of the Camana gully and its effects on the health of the population of the city of Requena is not significant.
