In this descriptive level investigation and non-experimental design, the effects of the concrete workability improving and water reducing additive “Chema Plast Plasticizer” are examined on the unit weight and settlement of cement-sand concrete in the fresh state, and on the properties of compressive strength, bending, tensile, modulus of elasticity and Poisson's modulus. Three water/cement ratios were used: 0.55, 0.65 and 0.75; Likewise, 9.19 lt/m3, 7.70 lt/m3 and 6.91 lt/m3 of chema plast additive were used correspondingly; The cement used was APU type GU and sand with a fineness modulus of 1.40 and a specific surface area of 69.735. The results found indicate that the A/C ratio of 0.55 increased the slump by 1/8” compared to 3/8” for the 0.75 ratio. However, the compressive strength at 28 days of curing increased from 285 kg/cm2 to 287 kg/cm2, from 171 kg/cm2 to 192 kg/cm2 and from 144 kg/cm2 to 159 kg/cm2, respectively. In the other properties there was no significant variation, but it could be concluded that the increase in workability and resistance values being minimal, there is no effectiveness in the use of the chema plast additive in the preparation of cement-sand concrete.
