The study was carried out in an 8 km section of Itaya River, located to the east of Iquitos city. In this last section, it runs over the old Amazon riverbed, so it can be considered an almost straight section; the relationship between the volume of river water is 0.2% of the flow of the Amazon River. The study section is approximately 8 km before reaching the mouth with the Amazon, a sector of great socioeconomic importance, due to the fact that the largest number of ports in the Iquitos is located and therefore the largest number of poblation. The scope corresponds to the districts of Punchana and Belén. As a procedure, the hydraulic simulation software Nays2dflod from IRIC was used, which has bathymetry, maximum flows and roughness as input, a program that allows us to determine the behavior of the river, the places of overflow, places of sedimentation of the section of study. The results indicate that Itaya river has a very low hydraulic slope (m=0.0004), the maximum velocities reach 1.5 m/s, the places with the highest sedimentation are located between survey stations 2+916 to 3+625 on the left bank, The vortices occur between the progressives 2+916 to 3+625 and 4+258 to 4+625. As for the overflow sections, they are located from survey station 2+916 to 6+407. In the section of the mouth, the incursion of the water masses of the Amazon River during the flood season can be verified. The hydraulic model represents very well the morphological conditions of the Amazon rivers.
