In the present research work whose objective was to verify if there is a relationship between the characteristics of nurses with the levels of work stress (Burnout Syndrome of the Regional Hospital of Loreto "Felipe Santiago Arriola Iglesias", August 2018, the Maslach Scale was applied and scores were collected on emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and personal fulfillment. The Maslach Scale was duly validated by judges' criteria and its reliability was established by the Cronbach Alpha Coefficient. The Maslach Scale was applied to 200 nurses from the different departments of the Regional Hospital of Loreto - 2018. The type of research was the descriptive-comparative one. The focus of the research was quantitative since the Scale applied provided numerical scores which were statistically processed in order to verify the degree of significant differences between the variables considered. The study was cross-sectional since the research data was collected at a specific place and time. The design of the research was "nonexperimental" because no variable was manipulated. The technique used to collect the information was "observation by survey". As the type of the investigation was the Comparative, the analysis of percentage frequencies, median and the nonparametric test of Kruskal Wallis were applied for the verification of the hypotheses. The results were analyzed and interpreted contrasting the hypotheses raised with the findings of statistical processing. The hypotheses were considered to be significantly verified at a level of p: 0.05, which indicates that if there are significant differences in work stress in at least two departments of the Regional Hospital of Loreto, the respective graphs and the corresponding analyzes were also prepared. The statistical processing was carried out with the statistical program SPSS version 22. The conclusions of the case were presented and the respective recommendations formulated.
