Sexually transmitted infections is a global and national health problem, with complications in the reproductive system, better knowledge by adolescents about the disease and preventive measures, reduce the risk of contagion. Objective: To determine the level of knowledge about sexually transmitted infections of adolescents from two human settlements in the city of Iquitos. Material and methods: A quantitative study of observational, cross-sectional, prospective, correlational design was carried out; with a population of 252 adolescents of 2 AAHH of the city of Iquitos, with a sample of 153 distributed proportionally to each AAHH; applying in instrument of 17 questions to know the level of knowledge about STIs, The chi-square test was applied to determine the relationship between the dependent and independent variables. Results: 22.2% of adolescents had a good level of knowledge about STIs , 32.7% a regular level and 45.1% a bad level; adolescents aged 18 to 19 years (27.3%, p=0.034), those who have sex (26.9%, p=0.001) and those who always use protection during sexual intercourse (40.9%, p=0.038) had significantly good knowledge about STIs; it was not associated with the sex of the adoles-cents. Conclusion: The level of knowledge of adolescents in two human settlements in the city of Iquitos is regular.
