This research studies the social skills developed by the 4th grade students of Julio Cesar Escobar school located in San Juan de Miraflores district, in Lima city. Its purpose is to identify what skills they have , what skills they present with more and less frequency and the differences that exist between them. The sample used in this research was of 105 students among 14, 15, 16 and 17 years, from the sections A, B, C and D, who were applied the Arnold checklist of social skills for adults valitaded and standardized in our country by Ambrosio Tomas Rojas 1994-1995. This research is of quantitative, transversal, prosprctive type of simple non-experimental design. This study reveals that adolescents in social skills in general have 92.4% in the category of competent and 7.6% in the category of incompetent. In reference to group I the first social skills were 81.9% competent and 18.1% incompetent, in reference to group II advanced social skills 87.6% competent and 12.4% incompetent, in reference to group III social skills related to feelings 74.3% competent and 25.7% incompetent; referring to group IV social skills alternative to aggression 93.3% competent and 6.7% inncompetent, in reference to group V social skills to face the stress 81% competent and 19% incompetent, in reference to group VI social planning skills 82.9% competent and 17.1% incompetent. In relation to sex, women have competition in 47.6% and men in 44.8%. In relation to age; 15 years old students present a higher index of incompetence in social skills than students of 14, 16 and 17 years. In relation to section; students from section B present a greater index of incompetence of social skills unlike the students of sections A, C and D.
